As part of its obligations to meet its quota of new housing in the Borough, GBC has identified a number of ‘strategic sites‘ for development. They include Weyside Urban Village (aka Slyfield Regeneration), Former Wisley Airfield, Blackwell Farm and Gosden Hill Farm. Provision of sustainable transport links to these sites is a key requirement, and also, through development levies (eg “Section 106”), could be a major source of funding for infrastructure improvements. (Indeed, the SMC was in part driven by this requirement.) GBUG has participated in a number of consultations organised by the developers and has emphasised the potential of cycling to deliver an important contribution to sustainable transport, provided suitable infrastructure is provided.

This track provides a useful and traffic free link between…
