In its Transport Strategy (2017), Guildford Borough Council states that its aim is to improve the cycling experience in and around Guildford. This is within the context of Surrey County Council’s Cycling Strategy (2014) for the County under the Third Surrey Transport Plan (LTP3). The Fourth Surrey Transport Plan (LTP4) was adopted in 2022, and the Cycling Strategy will be replaced by an Active Travel Strategy. SCC have published (and GBC has endorsed) the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) 2024 for Guildford.

GBC commissioned The Guildford Cycle Route Assessments (2020) along with its Appendices to look into cycle routes and parking. As part of Shaping Guildford’s Future, a Transport Strategy (2022) has been recommended to GBC which details radial cycle routes from the town centre, as shown in the image below.
